vis|ability Web Client

Overview

Download the Datasheet: Web Client

Web-Based Access

The vis|ability Web Client provides secure, browser-based access to the platform without requiring a dedicated software installation. Think of it as "Desktop Client Lite"—it delivers many of the Desktop Client's most commonly used features through a modern web browser, making it ideal for operators, supervisors, remote users, and mobile personnel.

The Web Client supports Windows, Linux/Unix, macOS, iOS, and Android devices, allowing users to access vis|ability from laptops, workstations, tablets, and smartphones over wired, wireless, or mobile networks.

While the Desktop Client remains the platform's full-featured administrative and operational application, the Web Client focuses on providing the core functionality users need to monitor information, interact with the system, and collaborate from virtually anywhere.

Core Functions

  • View Sources: Users can view various sources directly in the web browser, such as Spaces, IP cameras, network captures (with KM), images, media, and web sources.

  • Image Capture: The ability to capture images within the platform.

  • Network Capture with KM Support: Support for network captures, including KM (keyboard/mouse) functionality.

  • Live IP Camera Viewing: Streaming live video feeds from IP cameras.

  • Layout Preview and Loading: Preview and load layouts on Vis|ability-controlled displays.

  • Action Panels: Control the system through published Action Panels, providing real-time context to emerging situations.

Advanced Web Client - Content Streaming

There is a Content Streaming add-on feature that builds upon the standard Web Client by allowing users to contribute content—not just consume it. Users can securely upload images and documents or stream live video directly from a laptop, tablet, or smartphone into the vis|ability platform, making field collaboration and incident response significantly more effective.  This includes real-time video or static images and documents. Once added, these can be incorporated into Video Walls and Spaces, enhancing collaboration and situational awareness.

Integration with vis|ability Link

Combined with Vis|ability Link, a live stream can be configured to trigger customized events within the Vis|ability platform. For instance, it can automatically display the stream on one or more video walls or send it to users and Spaces for broader sharing. Customizable triggers and events ensure that critical live streams are promptly addressed and incidents in the field are managed efficiently.

Security

The Web Client is fully authenticated to the Vis|ability platform, adhering to all rights and permissions set by administrators. It can be accessed via intranet or internet, complying with organizational policies and security standards. The Base Web Client offers core functionality, while the Advanced Web Client adds the capability to stream live video from a Web Client device into the Vis|ability platform.

Licensing and Deployment Requirements

The Web Client is hosted on a Web Client Server, providing secure browser-based access to the vis|ability platform. Smaller deployments supporting up to approximately 25 internal users can typically host this service on the System Manager server. Larger deployments, environments with higher numbers of concurrent users (up to approximately 100, depending on the use case), or installations utilizing live content streaming should deploy one or more dedicated Web Client Servers to provide additional performance and scalability.

When using the Advanced Web Client to stream live video or other content into vis|ability, a Stream Management Service is required to ingest, process, and distribute those streams throughout the platform.

Web Client licensing is per Web Client Server, allowing multiple servers to be deployed as needed to support increased capacity, redundancy, or geographic distribution.
