vis|ability Spaces

What is a Space?

Download Data Sheet Here: Spaces

vis|ability Spaces give every user a "Display Wall at Your Desk."

Spaces are personalized, collaborative workspaces that allow users to organize, monitor, and share real-time operational information without requiring a physical Display Wall. By bringing multiple Sources together into a single customizable Layout, Spaces provide the same situational awareness experience as a traditional Display Wall—right from your desktop.

Think of a Space as your own personal Display Wall. Like the Display Wall Control found in the Desktop Client, a Space allows you to arrange live cameras, dashboards, maps, web pages, graphics, media, and other Sources into a Layout that fits your workflow. Unlike a physical Display Wall, however, a Space belongs to you and can be shared with other users or even displayed on a physical Display Wall when collaboration requires it.

Whether you're monitoring day-to-day operations or managing an active incident, Spaces provide a flexible way to build and maintain your own operational picture.

Spaces UI

How do they Work?

A Space is made up of Sources that have been opened within your Desktop Client session. Once added, those Sources behave just like content on a Display Wall.

Within a Space, users can:

  • Open and arrange multiple Sources.
  • Resize and reposition content.
  • Add or remove Sources at any time.
  • Create layouts optimized for their workflow.
  • Monitor multiple systems from a single window.
  • Save their workspace automatically.

Rather than continually opening individual cameras, dashboards, or applications, users can create a Space that keeps everything they need organized in one place.

In essence, you're creating a Display Wall at your desk—one that is completely customizable and always available.

Collaboration

Spaces are designed not only for individual productivity but also for collaboration.

A Space can be shared with other authorized users, allowing multiple people to view the same operational picture without requiring everyone to recreate the layout themselves.

Common collaboration scenarios include:

  • Shift handoffs between operators.
  • Incident response coordination.
  • Cross-agency collaboration.
  • Engineering and maintenance workflows.
  • Executive operational dashboards.
  • Temporary event workspaces.

Because the Space remains synchronized, everyone viewing it sees the same collection of operational information.

Permissions

Every Space includes configurable permissions that determine who can access and modify its contents.

Depending on operational needs, a Space can be configured as:

  • Private – Visible only to the owner.
  • Shared – Accessible to selected users or groups.
  • Public – Available to all authorized vis|ability users.
  • Read-Only – Viewable by others without allowing modifications.

These permissions allow organizations to balance collaboration with appropriate access control.

Bottom Line: Why Use Spaces?

Spaces provide a flexible way to organize operational information without requiring dedicated display hardware.

Whether you're monitoring critical infrastructure, managing an incident, collaborating across departments, or simply creating a personalized workspace, Spaces allow every user to build and share a real-time operational picture tailored to their needs.

By combining the flexibility of a desktop workspace with the collaborative capabilities of the vis|ability platform, Spaces enable organizations to extend situational awareness far beyond the physical control room.
