Keeping Your vis|ability System Healthy
Overview
A vis|ability system is designed to operate continuously as part of your environment. Maintaining it does not require a complicated maintenance routine, but normal IT practices should be followed to help keep the system secure, stable, and available.
The most important consideration is to ensure that changes to the surrounding Windows, network, security, or domain environment do not unintentionally interfere with vis|ability services or communication.
Follow Your Organization's IT Standards
Continue following your organization's normal IT policies for maintaining Windows-based systems, including operating system updates, security patches, antivirus or endpoint protection, and other required maintenance.
Whenever possible, perform updates during an approved maintenance window so systems can be restarted and operation verified before returning them to production.
For additional information, see How to Handle Windows Updates.
Be Mindful of Domain and Security Policies
vis|ability can operate within domain-managed and secured environments. However, changes to Group Policy, firewall rules, endpoint protection, service accounts, network configuration, or security policies can affect system operation.
When making changes, ensure that required vis|ability:
- Services and applications are permitted to run
- Network communication remains available between system components
- Firewall rules and required ports remain permitted
- Applications and services are not blocked or quarantined by endpoint protection
- Service accounts retain the permissions required for operation
- Display Nodes are not affected by policies that introduce automatic logoff, screen locking, sleep, or other unwanted interruptions
- Static IP addresses, DNS, routing, and other required network configuration remain consistent
If a significant IT or security change is planned and you are unsure how it may affect vis|ability, contact your System Integrator or the vis|ability team before implementing the change.
vis|ability Software Upgrades
vis|ability generally releases two major software updates each year, which may include new features and capabilities, enhancements to existing functionality, performance improvements, and bug fixes.
Customers with an active support contract have access to software upgrades and can coordinate with the vis|ability team when they are ready to update.
Software upgrades are optional. While we encourage customers to take advantage of the latest features and improvements, you are not required to upgrade simply because a newer version is available. If your current system is stable and meeting your operational needs, you can determine when an upgrade makes sense for your organization.
The vis|ability team will communicate information about new releases and can help you evaluate and plan an upgrade when you're ready.
Keeping Track of Your System
Good documentation is one of the simplest ways to maintain your vis|ability environment.
Keep records of significant system, network, hardware, and configuration changes. It is also helpful to maintain your support history so previous issues and resolutions can be referenced when needed. All post-commissioningmissioning documentation can be requested and delivered when needed.
The vis|ability Customer Portal provides a centralized place to review support activity associated with your organization.

Routine IT maintenance should continue as it normally would within your organization. The key is understanding whether a planned change could affect the communication, services, permissions, or configuration that vis|ability relies on.
If you are planning a significant infrastructure change, preparing for a software upgrade, or simply want to verify that your system is operating as expected, reach out to your System Integrator or the vis|ability team.
Staying informed, maintaining good documentation, and communicating when changes are planned are some of the best ways to keep your vis|ability system healthy and available for the long term.
