Handling vis|ability Software Upgrades
Overview
Keeping your visability platform current is essential for maintaining performance, security, and access to the latest features. Software upgrades are delivered based on client needs—typically once or twice per year—and are designed to be efficient, predictable, and minimally disruptive.
Upgrade Procedures and Pre-Requisites
Upgrades are performed remotely by our team and generally take 1–2 hours to complete. During this time, the system will be temporarily offline. We coordinate with each client to schedule upgrades during an appropriate maintenance window to minimize operational impact.
To ensure a smooth and successful upgrade, several pre-requisites should be completed in advance. Remote access to all system components—including System Manager, Display Nodes, and supporting infrastructure—must be available, along with the necessary administrative credentials. All systems should be online and operating normally prior to the upgrade, with any known issues resolved ahead of time.
A current system backup is required before proceeding. This includes configuration data, layouts, and any associated databases, with VM snapshots recommended where applicable to support rollback if needed. Network and security settings should also be validated to ensure that firewalls, antivirus software, and certificate configurations do not interfere with the upgrade process.
Finally, the upgrade should be coordinated through the client’s change management process. Stakeholders should be informed of the expected downtime, and any system dependencies—such as active monitoring, video wall usage, or integrated workflows—should be accounted for during the scheduled window.
What does it get me?
Each upgrade includes installation of the latest approved software version, validation of system functionality, and confirmation that all core services are operating as expected. This structured approach ensures a reliable upgrade process while enabling clients to take full advantage of ongoing platform improvements.
