Basic Display Node – Small Form Factor Minimum Requirements

Overview

SFF Machine

The vis|ability Basic Display Node – Small Form Factor (SFF) is a compact, commercial off-the-shelf workstation used to drive a single Display Area with up to four 4K display outputs.

The Small Form Factor configuration provides a compact visualization platform while offering greater hardware and expansion flexibility than a typical Micro Form Factor system.

Basic Display Nodes are intended primarily for IP-based and software-based sources available within the vis|ability environment. They do not require the larger workstation-class hardware used for Advanced Display Nodes with direct baseband capture or other specialized PCIe hardware.

Because vis|ability uses commercial off-the-shelf hardware, the exact manufacturer and model may change over time based on availability, lifecycle, and regional sourcing. Systems should therefore be selected based on the minimum requirements and intended workload, rather than a specific workstation model.

Minimum Requirements

Component Minimum Requirement

Typical/Recommended vis|ability Configuration

A Small Form Factor Basic Display Node supplied as part of a vis|ability system will generally include:

    • Windows 11 Pro x64
    • Current-generation Intel Core i7 processor or equivalent
    • 16 GB RAM or greater
    • SSD storage
    • Professional NVIDIA graphics
    • Up to four 4K display outputs
    • Onboard Gigabit Ethernet

The exact processor, GPU, storage capacity, and workstation model may vary depending on hardware availability and the requirements of the project.

Supported Content

The Basic Display Node is designed primarily for sources delivered to the Display Node through the vis|ability platform, including common source types such as:

Capture Client sources, IP video streams, web sources, application sources, media sources, graphics, and other supported network-based content.

The Basic Display Node does not support direct baseband capture hardware such as Matrox IPX or similar PCIe capture cards.

Where direct HDMI, DisplayPort, SDI, or other baseband inputs must be physically captured at the Display Node, an Advanced Display Node should be specified instead.

 Display Output

A Basic Display Node – Small Form Factor can support up to four 4K outputs from a single system.

The actual number of outputs required is determined by the Display Area design. A system may therefore be configured with fewer than four active outputs when the application does not require the full output capability.

For example, a Small Form Factor Display Node may be used for a single large-format display, a multi-display video wall, or another Display Area requiring multiple independent outputs.
